We hope Brother Brock and his family have had a restful vacation and are ready to get back to HBUMC. We would also like to add a big thank you to Deb Smith for filling in for him on Sunday. Many, many folks have said how much they enjoyed the sharing of her “Faith journey relics” with us. We are all looking at our treasures with a different perspective!

Remember that this Sunday we will celebrate communion as Brother Gary returns to the pulpit. The orchestra is scheduled to provide music for the service. I hope you will come and enjoy this special music.  VBS starts this Sunday night too so it will be a big day , and week,  at HBUMC.

Next Sunday, June 20th, we hope to be able to celebrate Father’s Day with service being held outside under the shelter.  Stay tuned for updated weather reports that will influence this decision. Our Music Minister Mark, has scheduled  special music for this Sunday and the next Sunday too as the Chancel Choir  enjoys the summer schedule.

Holy Communion, Mother’s Day, Graduation Sunday, Pentecost, and Memorial Day. Almost every Sunday in May is an extra special Sunday!  Come join us at Hickory Bend on Sunday morning to worship and celebrate.  Rumor has it that the Men are cooking something special up for Mother’s Day. Also, we are so proud of our Graduates, from preschool through college, and we will be honoring them on May 16.  Watch the Hickory Leaf Newsletter for the list of our graduates and a short biography for several of them.

The 2010 HBUMC Worship team met for the first time this year and hit the road running!  Did you realize that Wed. Feb. 17th is Ash Wednesday?  Please join us on the 17th for an evening service at 6:00 pm. Communion and the Imposition of the Ashes will be a meaningful part of the service that evening. This will kick off the season of Lent, which also means there are only 40 days until Easter! The Worship team has begun planning for services for Holy Week and Easter Sunday.  Watch your Hickory Leaf Newsletter for more details.

The team is excited about our plans for Worship this year with special music from the band, the bell choir, small groups, and of course, the adult, youth and children’s choirs.  Computer based projected presentations, a few praise songs, and services held outside at the shelter are just a few of the plans the team is working on. We are always open to suggestions and ideas from the congregation, so jot them down and hand them to a worship team member to be included on the next meeting agenda.
