2012 Council has been appointed and announced so I wanted to be the first to say Hello!
We are all very excited to be a part of the council and hope you will reach out to us whenever you have questions, concerns or just want to let us know how happy you are to be a part of Hickory Bend. We have also set
up a new email address that will let all of you reach out to the Council anytime you get the urge. Please send your comments to council@hickorybendumc.com and your email will go to everyone of us on the Council.
Many of you attended the Valentines Dinner last month and saw our new tables! Thanks to many donations and the Music department’s vision, the council approved the purchase of the tables which made a beautiful setting. I see these tables helping to make lots of events more interactive and relieving some of the older tables that were on their ‘last leg’! Thanks to Jim and Shari for dashing out at the last minute to get the tables so they could be used for our first dining event of the year!
I hope to update you monthly online and here in the newsletter on our Council adventures and hope you will take time to sit a spell in the Council Corner each month.

Ok, so we may be a bit early, but come join the Wednesday night dinner group on March 14, 2012 for a wee bit of blarney! Bring an Irish dish to share and be ready to eat at 5:30. Regular Wednesday night activities to follow.

Imagine yourself in a new career. You welcome weary travelers, wash dishes, distribute underwear and toiletries, and listen patiently to the stories of difficult journeys. Is this the kind of work that appeals to you? Why not join us for our last RITI of the season, Friday night, March 9th, night at APMUMC, and see if you have a future in inn keeping. You might be able to get in on the ground floor of a growing and challenging field. The work isn’t that hard, your co-workers will show you the ropes, and the benefits are out of this world!
Call Judy or Emalie if you are interested in an inn keeping internship. 615-403-8455

Many thanks to our new innkeeper, Joe Gleaves. He has all the qualities we need in an innkeeper. He remains cheerful and helpful on very little sleep, and he listens to ridiculous stories with patience and calm.
Join us on the second Friday of the cold weather months as we welcome our homeless guests to Room In the Inn at Andrew Price UMC. We need cooks, servers, dish washers, inn keepers, lunch makers, coffee makers (people who can make coffee, there is a coffee maker machine there, but it is not fool proof), and gentle listeners. Call Emalie or Judy if you would like more information. 615-403-8455.
