Once again, we are collecting new or gently used undergarments for our guests at Room In The Inn. We always need mid-sized panties, sizes 5-8. Pantyhose of all sizes are very popular. Pantyhose add warmth and keep pants from freezing to your legs when it is wet. We can use almost any foundation garments. In addition, our guests appreciate any bags with handles or rollers, ponchos, warm clothes, pajamas, slippers, and robes. Hickory Bend is famous for the care we give our guests. Your generosity keeps our guests warm from the inside out.

Come join the new Young Adult Sunday School Class, and see what Jason Berggren hates about Christianity! It may sound shocking, but as we begin our study of this brutally honest look at a young man’s faith journey, we have found a brother in Christ. Please join us, and see if you might understand how someone might work through confusion, doubt, annoyances, and pain, toward a deeper understanding of how God is moving in our lives. Let me know if you would like a copy of 10 Things I Hate About Christianity. Emalie

Please join us for another fabulous potato bar on Sunday, November 8th, immediately following worship. As always, our proceeds will help send us to Mountain T.O.P., where our youth and chaperons serve the poorest citizens in Tennessee. Our potato bars are always a our most important fund raiser. We thank you for the support you have always given our potato bars. Please make plans to have the best baked potatoes in town. Emalie

This year marks Hickory Bend’s tenth year participating in Room In The Inn. Each year our guests bring us a new awareness of the blessings that God bestows on us when we are making beds, cooking, serving, and doing laundry for our homeless guests — the least of these. You will be surprised at the joy you feel when you hand a lunch to someone who may not have another meal for a long time. Please make plans to join us for Room In The Inn on the fourth Friday of the month, November through March. For by doing this, you may be entertaining angels, unaware.
Our dates are:
November 27, 2009
December 25, 2009
January 22, 2010
February 26, 2010
March 26, 2010

We have returned from the mountain refreshed and revived. Twenty-seven friends and family members arrived at the historic Methodist Assembly in Beersheba Springs Friday night. Most of the weekend at Beersheba we spent strolling around the community, playing table games, singing, and rocking in rocking chairs. The weather was foggy and cool, in other words, perfect for Beersheba. Please make plans to join us next year for the most relaxing weekend of the year!
